Dollar Rent A Car Expands Online Presence with Pay-for-Performance
Top Travel Clients Join Commission Junction for Multilevel Commission Payout Structure
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Dec. 4, 2002 – Commission Junction (www.cj.com), a leader in pay-for-performance marketing, announced the addition of Dollar Rent A Car, a subsidiary of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc., (NYSE:DTG), to its network of online marketers. Dollar Rent A Car, which boasts a fleet of 74,000 rentals and 430 locations worldwide, is leveraging Commission Junction's technology and services to acquire more customers online. Dollar is one of several travel companies to recently join the network and capitalize on Commission Junction's enhanced product offering.
Dollar has already shown itself to be a leader in adopting new technologies to grow its business, including providing live online chat for customer queries and enabling car reservations via wireless devices. In fact, Dollar receives more reservations via online channels than through any other distribution channel. Now, with Commission Junction's pay-for-performance marketing solution, Dollar is broadening its online reach on a pay-for-performance basis.
"Dollar is proud to be associated with the leading pay-for-performance company, Commission Junction," said Charlie Coniglio, staff vice president of e-commerce, Dollar Rent A Car. "The Commission Junction model works perfectly for us. We only pay publishers for the actual time and mileage our customers book online."
Travel companies America West, Expedia.co.uk, RailEurope and Taca Airlines are also using Commission Junction's technology, and are beginning to take advantage of its new item-based commissions functionality.
This technology enables the companies to advertise on thousands of publishers' Web sites and reward those publishers for the specific services purchased as a result of their advertising, instead of offering only one commission rate for its suite of services. This feature enables advertisers to offer a number of different services or products in a large price range via their online advertising.
"With Commission Junction, the travel sector can take pay-for-performance online advertising to the next level and create more opportunities to earn revenue," said Lisa Riolo, vice president, client management, Commission Junction. "Dollar already has a strong brand offline and we look forward to working with them to reach their online goals as well."
